At the Library by Sally Holt

Summer is back and so is our annual book sale! The book sale begins on Sunday, July 14 at the Raymond Village Library at 9 a.m. It will continue until 7 p.m. and then into August during regular library hours, which are Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. People come from far and wide to purchase books for light beach reading. There will be some recent fiction, great non-fiction and classics as well as cookbooks, books on gardening, sewing, carpentry and many other books of interest. We also have many children’s books for all ages. Be sure to come in often because we receive new items throughout the sale. All proceeds benefit the library.

This summer’s reading program is titled, “Dig into Reading” and is for children all the way through teens. There are many programs scheduled through July, beginning Monday, July 1, with Entomology at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Village Library, in case of rain, it will be held at the Raymond Public Safety Building, 1443 Roosevelt Trail. Next on Saturday, July 13, there will be a Telescope Presentation at 7 p.m. at the Casco Library, 5 Leech Hill Rd. On Monday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Village Library will be a Wind Presentation, in case of rain, it will be held at the Raymond Public Safety Building. Wednesday, July 24 there will be The Honey Exchange, Bee and Bug Program at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Public Safety Building, and on Sunday, July 28 the Comic Book Presentation for 10-year-olds and older at 1 p.m. at the Raymond Village Library. This presentation is limited to 12 participants so get in touch with us to reserve your spot. Don’t forget there will be fun prizes all summer long! The book group will meet at the library on Wednesday, July 31 to discuss the novel, “One Amazing Thing”, written by Chitra Banerjee Divakuruni. The book will be available upon request at the library.


Don’t forget! There is still time to purchase a ticket to go on the Raymond Garden Tour, Saturday, June 29. You can purchase online at www.raymondvillagelibrary.org, at the library or from Jessica at the Raymond Village Florist on Roosevelt Trail. The tour is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ticket sale cutoff on the day of the tour is 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the tour.
