Dear Editor,
I would like to take the opportunity to send out many
thank you messages to our friends, family, neighbors for the unconditional love
and support that you have shown us over the last few weeks. This has been a
nightmare that no family wants to endure. While on vacation, my husband
suffered a massive heart attack and even though we got the best care possible
in Jupiter, Florida, he did not win the fight.
The quick appearance of friends and family in Florida was
the only way I made it through those three horrible days. Mary and Pete
Woodbury, Julie Pierce, Evelyn Pike, Tim Pike and Chris Pike, thank you for
your support and hours of waiting and crying with my father-in-law, Richard,
brother in law, David and myself.
There are so many people to thank that have supported me
and my husband's family during this time. I can't name them all as I would
certainly leave someone out. You know who you are!
The organization of John's celebration of life was
possible by the work of a village of friends and family. The attendance was
overwhelming (400 people) and if I did not get to speak to you personally, I am
so sorry for that. John's past co-workers at Seltzer and Rydholm from
years ago, to current customers of his contractor remodeling business were
there to show respect for this wonderful man. Hundreds of friends and family
filled the North Windham Union Church and then some.
Thank you for Reverend Sally Colegrove for her
ability to listen and endure our pain while trying to plan for this
service.
My thoughts to my mom, June Hawkes, who is grieving the
loss of her son-in-law, while healing herself at the Gorham House from a fall
that fractured her vertebrae.
I am lost without my husband, John, and know that over
time I will learn a new life without him, but again I have support and love
from so many people that will help me do that.
